Summarize Emails with Copilot in Outlook

Transcript

It's 5:00 PM on a Friday, and you are packing up your things ready to head out of the office with your work colleagues for some tacos. However, your manager has decided to send you a very lengthy email at 4:59 PM. Now, you could leave this until Monday. However, we remember that we have access to Copilot.

Which will allow us to summarise and pull out the key points of the email in seconds. If you're using classic Outlook, all you need to do is select the email in your inbox and click on the Summarise button In the top right hand corner, Copilot will go away and it's going to generate a summary of the key points of the email, and it will leave you with something a lot shorter so that you can very quickly read it and then head on out the door.

If you are working in new Outlook, the process is very similar. Simply select the email and then on the Home ribbon, click the lower half of the Copilot icon and notice that you have a Summarise option in here. Copilot is again gonna go away. It's going to summarise the email into some more manageable chunks.

You can quickly read it. And then you're good to go for the weekend. Also, remember that if you want to copy the summary, you do have a copy button again in the top right hand corner. You can then paste that into another email, maybe into OneNote or even a teams channel. So save yourself a whole heap of time and start summarising using Copilot.

Our aim is to ensure that everyone has an excellent learning experience. With this in mind, here are some tools which might help you to achieve this:

Using the NVDA or JAWS screen reader for learners with vision loss.

Using Texthelp Read & Write for learners with dyslexia or other reading difficulties.

Please note that all downloads and links in the module will open in a new tab.
